Dr. Amarjit Tanda, a Poet of Punjabi participated in the, " World Congress of Poets "
Dr. Amarjit Tanda, a well-known Poet of Punjabi and a renownedEntomologist from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab India, participated in the World Congress of Poets, held at Rozelle, Sydney, Australia from, 7th-8th October, 2000. The main theme of the World Congress of Poets was Poetry for world peace in the newMillenium. Opening and the launch of an anthology with pocket histories of poetry from many countries. Many poets from different countries such as Australia, Afghanistan, Argentina, Chile, China, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Greece, India (Punjabi, Hindi), Iraq, Italy, Ireland, Korea, Lebanon, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Scotland, Spain, Syria, Turkey, USA, and more. Many papers were also read on the poetry, issues in translating poetry, editing poetry and ideas, how cultural influences affect poets today, and reading by workshop participants. Dr.Tanda represented the Punjabi language, Punjab and India and presented his two poems, Maan ( mother) from his book,"Likhtum Neele Bansri, and, "I planted a tree away from homeland' a newly written Poem, on Sunday afternoon, in Punjabi, followed by their translations in English. His poems were appreciated by the poets of the other languages. Dr.Amarjit Tanda, is also the President of Punjabi Sahit Academy of Sydney and Punjabi Welfare and Cultural Association of Australia, and is an author of two books published in Punjabi and five in entomology science. Many of his poems have been published in the literary magazines and Daily newspapers such as Arsee, Aks, Lo, Samdarshi, Preet-Lari, Ajit, Punjabi Tribune and many others. Dr. Tanda is the chief editor of Kaleere, a Punjabi magazine being published from Sydney, Australia, since, October 1999.
