Dr. Sarbjit Singh Virk appeals to the Sikh community for a generous contribution towards the building fund of Sikh Temple in Renton, WA.

Today history was made in Seattle when Dr. Sarbjit Singh Virk, president of the committee presented the congregation at the Sikh Temple ( Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Washington ) in Renton with a very convincing case to solve the current stalemate. He also made a heart felt appeal for a generous contribution towards the building fund. His case was so convincing and his appeal was so moving that even the two committee members who had not signed the papers so far, did agree and signed the pertinent papers to help solve the crisis. Then the members of the congregation made generous contributions and pledged to contribute even more. At the end of the day, in accordance with the Sikh traditions Dr. Virk made an appeal to the general Sikh masses for contributions. We have obtained a copy of Dr. Virk's appeal and posted it in its original form in the Punjabi-Manch section under News and Views.

Dr. Sarbjit Singh Virk re-elected President of the management committee of Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Washington.

Last Sunday on December 12, 1999 Dr. Sarbjit Singh Virk was re-elected as President of the management commitee of the largest sikh congregation in the notrthwest United States. He was re-elected with a very comfortable margin. Today Dr. Virk addressed the congregation expressing his sincere thanks for his re-election as the President for the year 2000. He also thanked the members of the opposing group for making a promise to give him full cooperation during his term. He also made the announcement to form several sub-committees to organize various cultural activities in the Sikh community of Washington state.
