Sydney (Nov., 7,2001). In recognition of the International year of Volunteers, the Sikh Society of Australia Inc. has selected the name of DR. AMARJIT SINGH TANDA NOMINATED FOR THE VOLUNTEER AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2001, for his remarkable contributions as a Volunteer in Literature, Culture, Welfare, Religion, and in the Punjabi Sikh Society , who worked tirelessly, and devoted his time and skills in serving the community.
He has presented many of his poems from Jalandhar DoorDarshan and All India Radio, Jalandhar. He was also interviewed from SBS Radio, Werrington Radio Station, FM 200, Hindi Darpan, NSW, Australia. He participated in the World
Congress of Poets held at Rozelle, held in -Won 11 First /Second Prizes in Punjabi Poetry. -Won Best Poem Award of 1992-93 from the Punjabi Bhasa Department, . -Produced 3 Punjabi Feature films by Tanda Brothers Productions (Veeri, Dhee Jat Di, Pahla Pahla Piar and 1 Hindi Feature Film(Samuglar). -Was awarded University Merit Fellowships. -Worked as Teacher In-charge Young Writer’s Association, PAU Ludhiana. -President, Punjabi Sahit Academy
Sydney and Punjabi Welfare & Cultural Association Australia In India he is well known in Punjabi Literature and community.
Organised Religious Programs: He organised Religious Programs on the
Shabad Goshti and Aassa Di Vaar
which were participated by the Intellectuals of Punjabi community and the Sikh
Scholars last year. a new column on the Satire called Khattian Mithian 5abi.com was started by him contributed almost Punjabi Manch Internet
Magazine every issue. Helped Punjabi /Indian Students: The work done by him is a major stepping stone in building the community.
Sikh Society of Australia will be presenting this Award to him for his outstanding contribution as an individual of the Sikh Community of Australia at the Annual Dinner and Dance Function of the Society on 17th,November 2001, at Melbourne.
