Jap Page 1
Chapter 1
The interpretation of Jap
The Jap is the first holy writing admitted in
the Siri Guru Granth Sahib and not notified in music style (raga). In the beginning of each music style, there is a primary definition of God commonly
accepted as a moola root mantra1 by the popular name. However, there is no indication in the Guru
Granth this to be the mool mantra. There are 38 verses and two Saloksone salok is in the beginning and
other at the end of Jap.
The primary definition of the Creator
There is one and only God, with
authentic name,
creator in spirit, without fear, without hate, beyond
term, beyond transmigration, self-existent, and
realized with the pleasure of the guru.
This is the basic description of the Creator. There is totally one God who has a
legitimate name. All other names are impermanent. God is a pure and simple spiritnot
in tangible appearance. Since no other is parallel, Creator is fearful from none. Creator
of all creation does not revenge any body. All get uniform treatment. Punishment and
reward are the outcomes of our own self-possessed karma, which sets the cycle of
transmigration from one birth to other. The time is classified as past, present and
futurein the material world. So we try to estimate the life span of any matter in
character. From this cause Creator is a pure and permanent spiritThy is beyond time.
Transmigration is for those who are matter and under the influence of time. Being in pure
spirit and beyond karma; God is free from transmigration.
