Bulletin Board

__________________________________________________________

We have started this new page under the title of bulletin board for those people who want to paste a message.  However no content can be pasted directly on our website.  All content has to be mailed to us either on a disk via US Postal Mail or by email without an attachment.  We will go through it to check its appropriateness before pasting it on the web.  We will withhold names, email addresses as well as the physical addresses where necessary.   We will decide what qualifies as a regular article or story and what needs to go on the bulletin board like these two letters that came via email.............Editor

Hello, I'm a senior in a high school. I'm doing a project for my English class.

It's on Punjab, it's history and culture. I was
wondering if you could help me with it. I need stories
on Heer-Ranjha and Sasi Punnu. If you could give me
some insight on them it would be wonderful. My project
is due on May 22, 2000. Please respond ASAP. Thank
you.

Sincerely,

OPEN LETTER
To All Indo-American Punjabis
I,Sukhminder S. Chahal, in California is seeking Stockton City Council
District 4 seat . Stockton is the city where first Sikh Temple was built
in United States of America in 1905. Primary election results show that I
have excellent chances of winning the seat. I am the first Sikh to run
for city council in Stockton. I am the Senior Civil Engineer of San
Joaquin County for the last 23 years. I came to United States in 1956 and
graduated in 1958 from Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne,
Indiana. I am well known for my hard work throughout the community. Now,
I needs your support. I, Sukh Chahal, request all Stocktonians to vote
for him. I get things done. Also, I am asking throughout the United
States and Canada that people support my campaign by contributing funds
of $1 or any other generous amount. I am commited to honesty, integrity
and fairness. I always said that way to keep an electe public official
honest is to have his campaign financed by $ 1 each from people. I am
sure you share that opinion.

Please make checks payable and mail to; Committee for Sukh Chahal for
Stockton City Council, P. O. Box 9208, Stockton, California 95208

Editor's Response

Chahal Sahib,

Sat Sri Akaal !

You have a very impressive educational background.  Your message has been pasted on this bulletin board that we have just started for such purposes.  It is up to the readers to decide whether to get more information about you or not.  The people in your neighborhood may already know you personally but most people in far off places do not. Many people myself included would like to know what you stand for and what your political and social philosophies are.  People may want to know that before making a decision to support your candidacy.  I certainly do need to know that as I do not endorse political candidates based merely on their race, color, religion, national origin etc, etc. I think it is a good idea to sum up your philosophy and paste it here to let the readers myself included know about it so that they can make an informed decision. This applies to anyone who wants to paste his/her message on this bulletin board.

Sincerely,

Amrik Singh Kang

Sukhminder Singh Chahal's Response

Dear Mr. Kang:

Thank you for the Bulletin Board space. My candidacy for Stockton City
Council is due to the fact that our seniors, our families and our
children need who can address the plight of distressed neighborhoods,
streets and the education of our youth. I am committed to do that with
honesty, integrity and fairness to all the people.

My goals are to improve the image of the city, improve honesty by
utilizing tax money on worthy projects for tax payers, improve city
streets and help the existing businesses of the city. I am of the people,
by the people and for the people.

I have been endorsed by the City of Stockton Management B&C Employee
Group, Hispanic Political Action Group, Gujrati Association, Buddhist
Group  Pakistani Association,  Punjabi Business Group, and most important
by the American People.

I appreciate your support for my candidacy for the Stockton City Council
elections on November 7, 2000. In the event there are questions, please
feel free to contact me.

Again, thank you.

Sincerely,
Sukhminder S. Chahal
